April 29,2010

hello. so this week not a whole lote happened, pretty boring. so yesterday we had conference instead of p day. it was the whole day so i wasnt able to write you guys. it was soooooo long. but atleast i wasnt outside knocking doors. thats no fun. so we had our pday on tuesday. my comp thought it would be fun to spend half the day with some investigators. it kind of made me mad that he didnt bother to ask me if i wanted to go. so lately i have been making my position more known. haha. i hate it when people think they can walk all over you. so other than that we went to a place a played pool. it was alright. not exactly the funnest day. so during this whole "wekend" we have had the other elders in our district in our house. man it can get real annoying because they just want to eat your food. well i guess it could have been worse if i actually had food worth taking. lol. i ran out of money because i had to pay some bills. it takes so freaking long to get them reimbursed. oh how i hate how the money system they have set up for us works. i swear our money system was made by the devil. its like asking michelle to share her candy, she´ll break off the smallest portion possible and eat the rest. hahahaha. jk but seriously. they dont give us enough. so have you sent that game down yet? hows about you send some candy as well. ive been craving it. like a big bag of reeses and smarties. well i really dont have anything more to say. i used it all up in my last email. oh i out a couple of pics on my facebook if you want to check them out. i have some videos but i just cant get them to load. it takes forever. maybe if im lucky one day. well i hope you all have a good week. thanks for all the love and support.

4.21.10

this last week has ben pretty crazy, its been pretty packed with stuff. so today we went to the port. you could see a little bit of the naval base. it was really fun and we bought some empanadas. it was really good, but i ate too much. then we just walked around. we found this old boat that we climbed around on. i took some fun pictures on it. so yesterday we were at our investigators house. we found this family that is golden. they invite us over to their house and they have come to church the last two sundays, we have even gotten to the dad. he is a really cool guy that works in the naval base. he said one day he´ll take us through the base and show us some cool stuff. that sounds like fun! he showed us some pics of his kids holding big rifles and pistols. hahaha. so we ate at their house last night, at first it was this plate of cube meat and cheese and olives. so im eating a peice of ham and im pretty sure it wasnt cooked. it tasted really weird and last night i woke up with an upset stomach and so i made myself barf to get it out. well i got most of it out but there is still a little bit. and its making a bunch of smelly gas. maybe i should fart in my comps face or something. lol but back to the family, so we took out some tism dates wiht them and i think it will go through. ill try to take some pics this week when we see them next. oh and we had our baptism last saturday. and let me tell younthat was a hassle. it actually cost me a bunch of money too. but we got it all worked out. so on saturday we had to go to dorrego to do splits with the elders out there. well we missed the bus that takes us back. so we had to call up this convey. its a little more personal, they come and pick you up where your at. and it was expensive. and it only took us to bahia. so we had to take the bus from bahia to punta alta. so a lot of backtracking later and we finally get to the house of our investigator. she says that she cant get baptized, and had alot of doubts going through her head. so we had to talk some sense in her, so at the very last minute we go to the chapel and everyone was there and we did the bapstim. one of the leaders didnt want her to get baptized saying she wasnt ready. but the bishop approved it all so in his face!! lol it really ticked me off when he said that. we were already at the chapel and everything. so we do the baptism and everything is all good. then the next morning we were waiting for her outside and she never showed up. so we left to her house and she comes to the door and you could tell somehting was wrong. she said that she had a dream adn she couldt be baptized, she was really scared and everyhting. so once again we had to shake out the doubt from her. we gave her a blessing for comfort. it was really weird. you could really feel a prescence in the house. for me it felt really heavy and dark. to my comp he said he felt as though someone was screaming in his head. whatever it was it didnt want us there. so after a lot of talking and some more praying we finally got her motivated to go. one thing that was really weird is that my comp straight up said that there were bad spirits in the house and he said it was the husband that brought them there. i late asked him if he really felt prompted that it was the spouse and he was like yeah, i do. really weird stuff. but finally we got her to the chapel and confirmed. the later that night we passed by her house and she was really calm and happy. after that whole ordeal i was drained. you can really feel it take a toll on your spirit. like the woman that touched jesus and was healed. he could feel the virtue leave him. somehting like that i guess. but it left me spiritually and physically weak. really weird how that all works out. but it all ended well. then sunday was the last day of transfers and one of the elders in the other companionship left and in came my best bud from necochea. so i was really happy. he seemed pretty happy as well. so in all a really busy week. oh and last thursday we went to the bank and my comp took out 800 pesos in personal cash. he decided to play a joke on the other elders and said he found a wallet on the street and it was packed full of money. well one of the elders freaked out and was like you have to take it to the police. well the joke got really out of hand and they started shouting at each other. that was really awkward. hahaha. but kinda of entertaining. well that should be all the stuff that has happened in the week. in all a very filled week. hopefully it makes for a fun email for you guys.
as for my game, just send it without, theyll charge more in customs. that and it should be cheaper by bubble wrap envelope. but whatever. ill be happy if i could get it down here, so whatever is easier for you guys. oh and i did receive my debit card and i already activated it, so dont worry about it. but do you know about when the tax checks will come?

4.15.10

hello again, so to give you the update for the week, its pretty short, nothing too exciting going on here. so today we just hung around the house and then my comp was like i need to go buy some jeans, so we left for center or ¨downtown¨you could say, its really small but its where all the stores are, so he finds some that he likes and then we go. then later in the night we went to an appointment we had with some references. it went really well and they were really interested in what we had to say and the how the mission life is. so we talked with them for a while and then the guy gave us a ride home. then the other day, i think it was last thursday or friday, we started our contacting and we came across two people in their house and we talked with them, and we have had a lot of success with them. they even came to church last sunday. so i think they will get baptized soon. then we are having more success with this guy that has known the missionaries a long time. who knows. maybe he´ll get baptized as well. but i guess you can credit it to all the contacting weve been doing. we have a goal of 40 contacts the day, its a difficult task especially when you have to teach lessons. but we have been able to keep up with it and having more success. hopefully we get some tisms from it, because it sure tires me out. so this saturday we will have a baptism, its for graciela. things finally came through with her. so it will be my first one. so to answer some of your questions, the city i live in is called punta alta, its a naval base and its just outside of bahia blanca, if you look to the right on the map you´ll find it. so the other day i was thinking about my game settlers of catan, i was wondering if you could send it to me, not complete with the box but in a bubble wrap envelope. it shouldnt cost too much, maybe 20. let me know what you think. i figure if you separate the stuff between 2-3 packets it shouldnt cost that much on my end either. who knows. so have you heard anything about my taxes yet? oh and can you help brandon to remember to put the money in my account, he bought some stuff from me and hasnt put it in yet. i think that should be all. oh, and i forgot, this month we have the goal to read the BoM in a month, and im almost finshed, we have a couple more days to go so i think im fine. but its been a really neat experience, now i just wish i could go back and mark the new stuff i found, so i think i will. lol. well i love all of you. have an awesome week.

4.7.10

hey you all. so how dod you all like conference??。?。?。。。?ソ it was really enjoyable to have a little break and get fed for once instead of feed. lol spirit food that is. well so this last week has gone by really fast. so ill go backwards this week. so today we went to cerrito where us and some other elders got together to play soccer. pretty fun. but alot of mosquitos. haha so we took the bus there and me and my comp got split up in the bus and only i knew when to get off, so i know its coming up so i look to the back and motion for him, i was expecting him to come up to where i was or to watch when i got off but i guess he didnt see, so he got off a few stops before me, the stop comes up and i see that he isnt on the bus and i start to freak out a little. so i figured he just got off early. so for 15 minutes of my mssion i was by myself, lol. it felt really weird. then we came home, its about a 40 minute ride each way, lots of fun standing up the whole way. then yeterday was crazy we did non stop contacts, it wasnt that bad, my comp is a funny kid. so at one house he just opened right up and was like hey are you going to eat your grapes? they had a couple vines. and they were like no and they gave us a huge bag of nasty dried grapes. we didnt know they were bad. then we went to one house and he was like hey who had the prettier tie? the girl was like what the heck?! lol we did about 45 contacts that day and taught a few lessons, so it wasnt all bad. then monday. then the sunday we had conference, that was really nice, not as good as the last one but i still enjoyed it a lot, i like that talk by jeffrey r holland alt. he is such a funny guy. saturday we stayed with some elders in bahia, and they live in an aptartment behind som older members, and they treat the missionaries like grandkids, that sunday the fed us really well, it was the whole restaurant idea, an appetizer the meal and a dessert, it was so good, i wish they were in my ward. but atleast we get ed frequently here so not much to complain about. then last friday we played soccer with the you, enjoying that as always. and we should be having that baptism coming up here in a week and a half, somehting like that. well thats all the interesting stuff going on here, things have improved alot with my new comp, its a little bit more easygoing. we can actually go at our own pace now, haha. well thats it, love you all and hear from you next week.

March 31, 2010

hey mother of mine, well i had half of an email written before the queer at the front desk decided to close our sessions for no apparent reason. that ticked me off a little, you would have enjoyed it, i was in a weird mood writing silly stuff but not now, well so ill just be straightforward this time around. so to answer your questions, right now I'm in atlantida, its a really nice place, alot more upbeat than quequen, and ter are some things like i like better and some things that i don't like very much. it never snows down here, maybe more in the center of the country but not the coast. and as of right now its still fairly warm, but you can definitely feel the cold coming, its just that perfect temperature. and this area is quite a ways from quequen, about 150-200 miles or four hours in a bus. lots of fun! lol and as for soccer i really enjoy it, its one of the only times i can enjoy myself here, so i value it alot. i guess i just need to make more times like that, ha ha.that's the only thing that keeps me going. and my mission address is the best one to receive things, so don't worry about that. ill let you know when i get my debit card. then you can activate it for me. so everything is doing good down here, I'm enjoying this new area alot, were actually getting things done, alot has happened this last week. so last Thursday just the usual, a district meeting and then the work, then Friday pretty normal. alot of walking, my comp is a workaholic and never seems to stop. its hard to keep up with him. i think that's partly why I've been a little bit down lately, i need something fun. well Saturday comes around and our investigator graciela had her baptismal interview, and the question of abortion comes up. and then she kinda had an emotional breakdown, so when the other elder came out from interviewing her she went home, she has been under alot of stress lately. so we went by to see her and the family wouldn't let us. so we went home and i cooked pancakes. lots of fun. then we went by her house again because the other elder had already set up a time for the mission pres to come by, so we get there and they still wouldn't let us see her, then the pres shows up and we tell him that she isn't available, and so he leaves, he didn't seem to happy. whatever. then we went out and made some contacts and worked our tails off, a really exciting day let me tell you. probably the worst Ive had since Ive been out. so we decided to give her some time. then Sunday comes around and we get a call in the morning that there would be some changes, my comp left to be zone leader in our area and i got a new comp. he was in necochea when i was. hes a good elder and i think we relate a little better than the last. a little bit more down paced, i like that. then we go to Bahia to drop off my comp and pick up my new comp. and that took a little bit of time. it was kinda funny, i actually knew my way home, pretty weird how that works out sometimes. then these lst two days we have been wandering the area because i don't really know the area all that well. so well see how that goes. then today we had a zone activity. it was ours and the other zone in Bahia. pretty fun stuff. so we all went to a park and had an asado, ah it was so much fun. so the other elders don't know how to start a fire for nothing so i lit them all up. we had five fire pits going, there was so much meat. i had alot of fun, and right now we are in Bahia at the Internet place. in all a fun day. so are you guys looking forward to conference as much as i am?! its going to be awesome, nothing better than not doing the daily work, getting a spiritual high, eating candy and takig notes, oh and did i mention not working!! hahaha i love taking breaks, sometimes its so hard to keep going if there isn't fun little moments like p days and stuff like this, its so much fun! well i love you all, keep it safe, oh and did you do anything about my taxes?? if you could file them for me that would be awesome! oh and some pictures of the family as well, everybody always asks if i have pics. well have a fun week!
oh and i wont be able to use this account, the church thought it would be fun to upgrade our accounts as of tomorrow, so i can only access it if i have my member number if you can look that up for me, but in the meantime get me at jasonseegrist@hotmail.com i always check it.
